Malaysia through an EOS 1000D

We went on a tour of Malaysia, Singapore & Sri Lanka for our vacation a month ago. Our first stop was Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. My very first stop was the nearest Canon showroom I could find & I got myself a spanking new EOS 1000D. Now, it had been a REALLY long time since I've been asking my parents for a DSLR, so I was mighty chuffed (I still am, for that matter!) that I finally got it!

One thing which really left me (and the rest of us!) gaping was the Petronas twin towers. No matter how much of it you've seen on the telly or in mags, seeing it in real life, with you're own eyes, that magnificent edifice of steel & glass just looming in front of you leaves any person absolutely staggered. Never before has a building had such an effect on me. I decided that I'd come back once the sun had gone down to do a night photo shoot of the towers. This was the first "assignment" I'd given myself & I was feeling rather smug about it all; forgive the lack of seemly modesty!

Once darkness fell, after dinner, I left our hotel & caught the KL monorail (which is like our metro train network, only that it rides on a single, elevated track above the city, hence the name) to the Towers. I took quite a lot of shots; some from near the Towers, some for afar & from different angles.

KL has the sparkle, the energy, the life & that certain something about it that makes it an absolutely stunning city & I'm still positively delighted that I had the chance to start off my photography in such a beautiful & mesmerising place.
